Super Style Bag Swap by Sew, mama, Sew!

Hi there,

the Super Style Bag Swap is already over for a while.
I have participated and it was really fun :). My partner was Kristina from Slovenia and I have sewn a "Julie-bag" for her:

Kristina was very fast with the bag she had sewn for me. It is a shoulder bag and it it is really nice. I love the red contrast zipper:

I use this bag very often :).

The reason for posting about this bag swap so late, was my further education which includes a lot of learning all those new medical terms. This is a totaly new part for me but it is also really interesting.
And my old PC got out of order and I have a new one now.

Kristina, I hope you have the same fun with the bag I have sewn for you as I have with your bag you have sewn for me :).

Isabella....

...is an ebook-pattern from farbenmix.

It includes three variations of bags, which are all nice.

I have sewn the messanger bag. A pattern review in German will follow on my other blog (take a look at my bloglist).

And here is my bag:

A new pencil case......

.... for me :).

I need it because I am back school since October 1st. For the next two years I make a further education in medical documentation.

The pencil case pattern was published in August this year on the Sew Mama Sew-blog.

I have used an Alexander Henry Fabric and an unknown brand fabric in black with white dots for the lining.

From these fabrics I have also planned to sew a great bag. I have already cut it out and ironed on the interfacing. I hope I have time to sew it this week.

crochet - first attempts

Hi there,

everywhere I see those wonderful crochet flowers, granny squares and a lot more beautiful things.

Crochet? Me? Long long ago in my childhood there was something called chain stitches *g*. Also knitting is not really something I could, just scarfs are easy, I have tried socks, but that was horrible (now my aunt is knitting them for me).

But crochet? Ok, lets give it a try. I've bought some crochet hooks and two balls of wool and start with the different things that goes beyond chain stitches. I am sorry, but I am not firm yet with those special chrochet vocabulary and leo.dict.org isn't helpful for this :(.

Here is now a pic from my first flower attempt *g*:

the next attempt is much better:

and changing colors is really easy:

My first conclusion: Crochet is much more easier than knitting and makes more fun.
Now I need some more colors. They are already ordered and I hope I will get them on Friday or Saturday.

International Giveaway Day, organized by Sew, Mama, Sew!

Today is a special Giveaway Day, which is organized by SMS (Sew, Mama Sew!).

It is really fun to browse all these blogs who participate in this Giveaway Day.

So beautiful things to win, so many interesting blogs which I don't have recognized yet.

Renate is one of the more than 100 particpants, where a closer look is really rewarding.

Spoonflowers test-swatches received

yeah, I was so excited to get them, and yes they are great, but......

..it is not the colour I have expected.

The swatches have a size of 8" x 8" what is round about 20cm x 20 cm:

and these are the original designs:

Now the real work has to be done: to change the colours like I want to have them. For that I need to have the colour chart be printed at spoonflower. I think in four weeks I will get them.

So time enough to do other things, perhaps some sewing ;)?.

playing with inkscape

I am not really firm with graphic programs. All I has done was uploading the pics from my digi-cam and resize them.
So, not really a good assumption to "design" anything.
And if you are also not firm in drawing by hand, this only could be a disaster, or?

A few weeks ago, I have joined the Spoonflower-community. Spoonflower is a company in the US where you can buy fabrics which are designed from other community members and you are also able to upload your own designs for buying and sharing with others.

This is an amazing idea and I haven't found anything similar here in Germany.

Every week there is a themed design contest. This weeks contest theme is bugs.
So I have tried if I am able to participate in that contest.

Here is my result and the first attempt with inkscape:

Photobucket

and so it looks on a fat quater quilting fabric:

Photobucket

Not bad for the first attempt, I think.

In fact I have joined the contest with this design and it would be really glad if you like to vote for me here: bug design contest

In case I should win (what I don't really assume, but who knows), I would like to give away a half yard piece of this fabric. Just leave a comment here and don't forget to vote :). And if you have an own blog feel free to inform your readers about this little drawing. Remember, only you can win if I had won.

"sending wishes on the wind" is now ready for bidding on ebay for the canadian red cross haiti relief.

oh oh julie

lalalalalala.....

at the beginning 80s i loved this song from shakin stevens. to my excuse: i was young *g*.

today i still like julie very much but not the song, it's the e-book pattern from griselda. and this is my julie now:

Photobucket

this pattern is really great and the instructions are easy to follow. and it gives you a really great combination of fabrics to use. I think that another julie will follow :).
